Pondfield Park Community Festival 2008

Reede Road Tenants and Residents Association hosted their fifth Community festival in Pondfield Park which was well supported despite the weather on the Saturday. The event was supported by over 4500 residents who had fun with the inflatable's and entering the Pondfield Got Talent and Fancy Dress Competitions. More importantly residents took the opportunity to meet their neighbours andfriends over the weekend listening to music, watching magic shows and for the first time even celebrate their different religious beliefs at a congregation of eight of the different local churches in the main arena.

Darren Rodwell chair of Reede Road Tenants and Residents Association said "I must thank all the community groups, companies and council for supporting this year's event". He went on to say "it was the smallest event we had run, but still the largest resident run event in the borough and this year's event was the best yet for community groups getting involved".

Tim Baggs, Information & Marketing Manager at DABD (uk) said "It is with great pleasure that we were able to support this important local communityevent. As well as being able to give information on and promote our services to local people, it was fantastic to see the residents, regardless of their age or background coming together as a community to share in this event. Well done Reede Road TRA, lets hope we have more of these events that promote cohesion and pride in our borough".

Alibon Safer Neighbourhood Team, Step up - a new charity set up to help families affected by sexual abuse, Health Wise, DABD (uk), Neighbourhood Management, Royal Naval Association, Air Cadets and The Mayors Charity were among the groups that took part in the festival providing locals with advice and information from crime prevention tips to benefit advice.

Drawn by Councillor Davis the first raffle prize donated by London City Airport; a pair of return tickets to any destination in Europe was won by Mr Panchal. Second Prize was a C2C Family rail card won by Mrs Ball. Third Prize was a food hamper won by Mr Davis. The TRA would like to thank everyone that took part in the day and remind them that all proceeds go back into the community.

Reede Road TRA are now looking forward to building on their success again with the second 'Carols in the Park' event promising to be bigger and better then last year in December and having a special guest present for the kids.
