Trip to Southend

Reede Road Tenants and Residents Association's (TRA) annual summer trip was given an added boost on Friday with the offer of a free, exclusive train to Southend by C2C Rail.

C2C made the offer after Margaret Hodge MP, who has worked closely with the Residents Association in the past, told C2C Chief Executive, Julian Drury of the difficulty the Association were having in finding enough coaches for this year's trip.

The offer means that 400 residents of Barking and Dagenham will be able to travel together from Dagenham Dock to Southend on Sunday 17 August, to enjoy a day out at the seaside.

Margaret Hodge MP said "I was taken aback when Julian Drury said that he would provide a train completely free of charge. I know how much this annual trip means to the Residents Association and the community at large and I am so pleased that it is able to go ahead."

Reede Road TRA chair Darren Rodwell said "this is a fantastic offer. I always look forward to the annual trip with our community and C2C's generosity means that we will all be able to travel together. I am very excited about Councillor John Davis' promise to lead us in a sing a long on the trip up."

C2C said "The trip is open to all residents of Barking and Dagenham, but places are limited to the first 400 residents. Anyone who would like to go on the trip should contact Darren Rodwell on 07957 249 149, or www.reederoadtra.co.uk".
