TRA History

Reede Road TRA was formed in September 2003 when residents came together from Reede Road as part of a focus group to discuss the development of St Marks Place. When the focus group disbanded, residents wanted to continue working together to improve the area in which they lived

Darren Rodwell worked with the boroughs Tenants Participation Office to set up Reede Road Steering group in 2003, and in November 2004 Reede Road Tenants and Residents Association was born after the first Annual General Meeting where residents stood for election for formal roles: Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary as well as 4 lay members. The constitution was then agreed and signed by the committee forming the Reede Road TRA.

By 2004 the TRA meetings were being attended by residents from around the estate, so in September 2004 we enlarged our area to cover 20+ roads off and around Reede Road. In the spring of 2006 two more roads have asked to join the TRA. Earlier this year we have extended the TRA area on request of residents to Oxlow lane on a temporary basis until the next AGM in September 2008.

Each year the TRA has put on various activities for the local community to come together and get to know each other, 2008 saw the committee’s 5th Pondfield Community Festival, and residents looking forward to a trip to South End and the 2nd Carols in the Park.
